Pharrell Williams Being Surprise-Interviewed By Kids Is The Cutest Thing You’ll See All Day

Let’s face it, sometimes when you watch big-name celebs get interviewed by kids, things can seem kind of cheesy and staged.

However, when Pharrell Williams walked into a press conference to promo his new kids’ book, ‘Happy!’, expecting to be faced with a load of journos with ‘serious questions’, he was stunned speechless to be confronted by a group of schoolchildren.

However, after gathering himself for a few seconds the musician really got into the swing of things, with the interview proceeding to be one of the cutest vids we have seen all year.

And no, we’re not exaggerating.

Kicking things off, Pharrell exclaims: “Hi, how are you all today? This is a shock.”

He then prepares for questioning, but again, is left shocked when the first one is the incredibly innocent: “Please can I go to the toilet?”

Spare a thought for teachers, eh?

The 42-year-old then leaves his microphone to go down to the kids level so that the real questions can begin, with a whole load of adorbs revelations coming out.

For example, his fave page in the book? The one that he dedicated to his six-year-old son, Rocket, of course.

He then rather poignantly explains why he wanted to make a book for children, sharing: “I wanted to make a book for kids because without the kids I would not have this career.

“Without the kids I feel like I would be alone because there are so many grown ups that end up making decisions in your life and they lose what you guys have right now, which is joy and the importance of being a kid.

“I’m still a big kid and I don’t want to lose that, so in order to not lose it one has to continue doing things that are fun and you have to continue giving back to what has given you so much - which is the kids.

“My life would not be where it is by now if it was not for you guys.”

N’aww, babes, you’re going to make us cry.

Speaking after the press conference, Pharrell confirmed that he was absolutely thrilled to have had the surprise, sharing: “The energy was the most important thing to me and that’s something you can’t fake something that the kind of vibration and the enthusiasm that they were naturally emanating was just awesome.

“I just think there could not have been a better reception to present this idea that we are putting this book out so I’m grateful for this opportunity and definitely grateful for this experience and it is definitely because of those great children.”

Pharrell Williams’ book HAPPY! is a picture book featuring photographs of children across cultures celebrating what it means to be happy, inspired by the words of this best-loved song.
