Manchester City could have a quiet summer transfer window but it would not be a surprise for one or two players to join and others to exit the club.

Pep Guardiola's side secured their fourth successive Premier League title last month, pipping Arsenal to top spot on the final day of the season. Although City lost the FA Cup final to Manchester United, their campaign can be counted as a success after finishing at the top of the piece once more.

In an attempt to build and go for a fifth title in a row next season, City could strengthen their squad this summer. Rumours have been quiet on the incoming front, with Adam Wharton and Michael Olise among them linked with a move to the Etihad. However, City are likely to focus more on outgoings.

Julian Alvarez is someone who has been heavily tipped to leave City in recent days with his game time reduced during the second-half of the season. A number of clubs, including Atletico Madrid, are circling over a potential move for the Argentine, who scored 19 goals in 54 appearances in 2023/24.

Below, MEN Sport takes a look at the latest media reports surrounding City...

Foden contract

According to The Sun, City will offer Foden a new contract worth £375,000 per-week after Euro 2024. The 24-year-old has three years left on his current deal, and although there has been no inkling that he could leave, City want to tie him down to fresh terms on an eye-watering sum of money.

MEN Sport says: Foden was nothing short of sensational for City during the 2023/24 season, scoring 27 goals and 12 assists in 53 appearances. He was named as the Premier League Player of the Year for his performances. It is not surprising that City have offered him a new deal and it's richly-deserved.

He is one of their most important players and City are making the correct decision by trying to keep him at the club for the longer run. It's reported City are offering him a six-year contract and that is the least Foden deserves, meaning he will be 30 when that deal comes to an end.

Alvaraz wanted

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has admitted he does not see City allowing Alvarez to leave the club this summer, despite rumours circulating linking him with a move to Spain. "Julian Alvarez is a Manchester City player, and I don’t think he’s going to move from there," Cerezo told UnoTV.

MEN Sport says: If Cerezo is correct, then City are making the correct decision to keep Alvarez. It seems harsh to say that he is a very good squad option and not an integral member of the starting XI, but the Argentine would be hard to replace should City sell and try and replace him this summer.

Although Alvarez played a combined 17 minutes throughout their final four Premier League matches of the season, he still managed to score twice and showed the contribution he can have, even if it was off the bench. He ended the Premier League season with 20 goal contributions in 36 matches. No brainer to keep.
