Manchester United shirt sponsor Snapdragon launch advert with Eric Cantona for £60million deal

American brand Snapdragon have used Eric Cantona to officially announce their sponsorship of Manchester United, which is worth £60million per season.

It was confirmed in September that California-based company Qualcomm Technologies would have their brand Snapdragon on the front of shirts for the 2024/25 season.

United's sponsorship deal with TeamViewer, agreed during the pandemic, has been brought to an end. That agreement was worth just £47m per year and the Qualcomm Technologies deal is understood to be worth £60m per season, which is a significant rise.

Before TeamViewer's sponsorship, United had a £64m deal with car manufacturer Chevrolet that began in 2014 and the Snapdragon deal is close to the value of that package.

Ahead of United's 2024/25 home shirt release, which is just around the corner, Snapdragon have launched an advert with the legendary Cantona to announce their sponsorship.

"How do you measure your passion?" Cantona says to nostalgic United footage. "Because this beautiful game is more than just numbers. It's about billions of voices singing as one.

"It's about emotion, heart and creating memories we never forget. Some think it's the number on the back of the jersey that matters. But if you ask me? It's what's on the front."

United have not disclosed the length of their deal with Qualcomm Technologies, whose processors power some of the world's biggest brands's technology.

United will wear the Snapdragon logo on their home, away and third shirts from the start of 2024/25 campaign and the deal has been struck up to cover the men's and women's teams, and training kit for both sides.

The Snapdragon logo has drawn comparisons to the Vodafone sponsor on shirts from the early 2000s, already making it a hit among fans.

United are now thought to have the second-most lucrative sponsorship deal in the Premier League, with Manchester City's package with Etihad Airways said to be worth £67.5m each season.

Arsenal and Liverpool, who have contracts with Emirates and Standard Chartered Bank respectively, are both believed to have deals valued at around £50m for shirt sponsorship.
