Actor Brian Cox almost reduced Phillip Schofield to tears on This Morning on Monday when he told the host he was "very proud" of him coming out as gay earlier in February.
The Succession star was on the programme to discuss his directorial project, play Sinner - The English Professor, but took the opportunity towards the end of the interview to praise the presenter.
"By the way, well done," he began before Schofield, 57, replied: "Oh thank you, Brian."
Cox, 73, continued: "Really, well done. I was very proud of what you did, I thought that was a remarkable thing."
"Thank you. You’ll make me cry," Schofield replied before moving on to the next segment.
Schofield came out in an Instagram post before appearing on the This Morning sofa to discuss the announcement with friend and co-star Holly Willoughby.
He has been married to wife Steph for 27 years and shares two adult daughters with her, Molly and Ruby.
The Dancing on Ice host thanked his wife and daughters for their support when he made the emotional revelation
He said in his post to Instagram: “This is something that has caused many heart-breaking conversations at home. My family have held me so close: they have tried to cheer me up, to smother me with kindness and love, despite their own confusion.
"Yet still I can’t sleep and there have been some very dark moments.”
The announcement saw many famous faces speak out in support of Schofield as they lauded his bravery.
