Photograph captures Donald Trump's 'fistbump' handshake with the Queen

He’s been in the UK for a matter of hours and most of the UK is watching and waiting for US President Donald Trump to make his first faux pas.
The controversial leader is known for diplomatic clangers - traditionally administered via his Twitter account.
But this photograph has sparked a social media frenzy as Twitter users claimed the president’s handshake with the Queen looked more like a fist-bump.
However, despite appearances it wasn’t a fist bump but more of an awkward clench.

Mr Trump was also criticised for failing to bow - however, the Royal Family’s own protocol states there is no formal requirement to curtsy or bow but many people choose to honour the tradition.
Still, the handshake came under intense scrutiny.

It’s not the first time Mr Trump has appeared to struggle with a handshake.

He yanked French President Emmanuel Macron’s hand at the Bastille Day celebration in July 2017, holding on to it for nearly 30 seconds.

At the White House in April 2018, he also led the French leader away from reporters after shaking his hand and keeping hold of it.
Prime Minister Theresa May also encountered Mr Trump’s unusual mode of dealing with foreign leaders.
They held hands as they walked along at the White House during their first meeting in January 2017.
