New photos have emerged of emergency crews and rescue teams in Tenerife as searches for missing Jay Slater continue into the sixth day.

The pictures were taken close to the village of Masca on the north of the island this morning (Saturday). This area is near to where the 19-year-old, from Lancashire, is believed to have stayed in an Airbnb with people he met after the NRG festival on Sunday night.

He was then reported missing by pals on Monday morning. The photos show sniffer dogs being used to scour the vast and mountainous landscape, with a number of search teams and Civil Guard vehicles stationed on the windy road through the area.

Rescue teams are understood to be focusing on three key spots across the treacherous mountains of Tenerife, with crews searching a 30-kilometre area for the teenager.

On Friday (June 21), Civil Defence search teams lifted the lid on the specific rural areas where the efforts are being focused, all in the vicinity of the Parque Rural de Teno nature reserve, the area where Jay was reported missing. They include a ravine around 100 metres below the rental property where Jay was last seen, as well as in mountains between Masca and Las Portelas.

So far, the major search has seen Civil Guard officers, mountain rescue teams and police drones and helicopters deployed. Civil Defence officers at the search base told the Manchester Evening News on Friday that the vast area, split up into three different ravines, is around 30km wide.

One member of the team revealed they are currently carrying out searches in three different areas - the Masca Gorge, La Vica, and Las Portelas, as well as the surrounding Masca area. Aside from one windy and challenging main road through Masca, there are very little footpaths, with miles of challenging terrain.

A member of the specialist search team confirmed drones and police dogs had also been deployed, as the efforts continued on Saturday. A member of the Civil Defence search team previously said: "We still have hope that he's alive, up until the last moment when the last hope is lost.

"The truth is that we feel a bit frustrated because we can't find him. It's so big [here] that it's very difficult to search in such a steep area. But we're doing everything we can.

"We haven't found anything, we have combed this entire trail, we've been up and down but, until now, nothing."

Spanish police received an offer of support from Lancashire Constabulary, but rejected the help and said they were 'satisfied' with the resources that they had. In a statement, a Lancashire Constabulary spokesperson said: "First and foremost, our thoughts are with Jay’s family at this time.

"They must be going through the most distressing ordeal not knowing what has happened to their loved one. Whilst this case falls outside the jurisdiction of UK policing, we have made an offer of support to the Guardia Civil to see if they need any additional resources.

"They have confirmed that at this time they are satisfied that they have the resources they need, but that offer remains open and they will contact us should that position change."
