In pictures: fans flock to V Festival for weekend of big-name music

The latest festival of the season drew crowds from across the country, with revellers flocking to V Festival for hit performances from global artists.

The annual festival, which splits between Staffordshire’s Weston Park and Hylands Park in Essex, saw headline performances at the former from Jay Z and Ellie Goulding while Pink and Ella Eyre took to the stage at the latter.

Jay Z closed his headline slot with a touching tribute to Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, who died last month.

Before performing his Linkin Park collaboration Numb/Encore, Jay Z told the crowd: “Can you guys light it up tonight for Chester, Linkin Park one time tonight.

“Please make some noise so he can hear you all the way in heaven tonight.”

Singer Pink, who headlined at Hylands on Saturday and was set to close the Weston Park leg of the festival on Sunday, was delayed slightly when a fire broke out on stage ahead of her performance.
