Swimmers and surfboarders enjoyed a freezing cold dip in the North Sea during a sunny spell this morning (Saturday, April 20) as the Met Office forecasts a cloudy and chilly weekend ahead.

Dry this morning, and chilly at first, with patchy cloud and sunny spells. This afternoon cloud will increase, becoming often cloudy, but some sunny intervals will still occur, and it will remain dry. Feeling rather cold. Breezy along the coast. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Becoming cloudy this evening, Overnight the cloud may thicken to bring a few spots of light rain, although mainly for Northumberland. Minimum temperature 2 °C.
