Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has no problem playing out on the left to accommodate Alexandre Lacazette in Arsenal’s front line.

Aubameyang became Arsenal’s most expensive transfer in history following his £56m arrival from Borussia Dortmund in January, just six months on from Lacazette moved to north London from Lyon.

The two did not line up in the same starting XI until April when the Gabon international shifted out to the left of a 4-3-3 formation, providing an assist for the Frenchman in a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United.

The two also combined in a thumping 5-0 win over Burnley at the end of the 2018-19 season.

Aubameyang started as a lone striker in Arsenal’s opening match of the season against Manchester City. Lacazette, meanwhile, was forced to settle for a spot on the bench but impressed after coming on as a second half substitute despite failing to spark a fightback as the Gunners fell to a 2-0 defeat.

The two forwards have quickly struck up a friendship in north London with Aubameyang, who scored 10 times in 13 league appearances last season, ready to sacrifice his place through the middle for the good of the team.

“We get on really well,” Aubameyang told ESPN of Lacazette. “There is a spark between us when we are both on the pitch together. We look for each other, we saw it against City when he came on.

“I don’t mind playing on the left if Laca is in the centre. We both want to do our best for the team.”

Unai Emery’s side take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
