Piers Morgan moaned about being mocked, booed and losing at the National Television Awards (NTAs) in the "searing heat".

The former Good Morning Britain presenter, who was nominated in the TV Interview category for his TalkTV show Piers Morgan Uncensored, also insulted ceremony host Joel Dommett as he shared his unpleasant experiences on social media.

Morgan tweeted: "Got the Tube in searing heat.. got mocked by a host I’ve never heard of… got booed by an audience of shrieking banshees… got beaten by Graham b****y Norton.. and now getting the first limo I can find to get the hell outta here. Thanks for a great night ⁦@OfficialNTAs"

He told ITV's Vogue Williams on the red carpet: "It's about the winning. It crushes my soul."

Host Dommett told the audience "Piers Morgan is here!" The camera cut to the ex-GMB presenter to the sound of mixed boos and cheers.

Dommett said: "Hey, say what you like about Piers Morgan..." he then moved on, as Morgan scowled at the joke.

The former tabloid editor shared a picture of his face as he was booed by the crowd at the ceremony, quoting his footballing hero Cristiano Ronaldo saying: "Some fans keep booing and whistling at me because I’m handsome, rich and a great player. They envy me.”

He also claimed: "Actually a lot more cheers than boos…"

His son Spencer Morgan commented on a report about him being booed: "NPCs… trust me this isn’t the way to get to him He lives for this."

NPCs stands for non-player characters, referring to people who follow the crowd.

TV presenter Morgan claimed he had travelled to the ceremony at London's O2 Arena on the London Underground, the first time he had used the Tube in over 30 years.

He complained: "Hasn’t got any cooler has it…"

But the evening wasn't all bad for Morgan as he shared a picture of himself catching up with his former GMB co-host Susanna Reid.

He captioned the photo of the pair on the red carpet: "Good evening Britain."

Morgan has boycotted the NTAs in the past complaining he was fed up of losing.

In 2021 he revealed he had stayed at home to watch the ceremony on the television.

He has previously been nominated in the Best Presenter category against Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly – who won yet again this year for the 22nd time in a row.

Morgan said: "I deserve to win because everyone’s sick and tired of Ant and Dec automatically winning this award, which bears no relation to reality.

“They’ve done nothing special in the last year, even they would admit that. I think it’s time the procession came to a shuddering halt and the Morgan bandwagon was rewarded with glory.”

And said in 2020 he declared: “I’m not going this year. I’m sick of Holly and Phil winning every year. And Ant and Dec will win Best Presenter.

“Holly always goes, ‘Oh! Me again?!’ Then she leans in and goes, ‘Take that you little....’

“Don’t be fooled by Holly Willougby.”

GMB regularly lost the Daytime show at the awards to This Morning.

However, This Morning lost out to The Repair Shop this year, its first defeat in 11 years, which comes following the controversial departure of Phillip Schofield.

Former Britain's Got Talent judge Morgan was forced to quit his high-paid job hosting GMB in 2021 after saying he did not believe claims made by Meghan Markle about her mental health and suicidal feelings in the interview with Oprah Winfrey.

He is believed to have signed a lucrative deal to host his own show Piers Morgan Uncensored on TalkTV. The show has around 30,000 regular viewers.
