It was quite the day on Good Morning Britain today (December 5) with Piers Morgan kicking off at a “radical feminist”.

Daisy Buchanan appeared on the show to express her views on the classic Christmas song, ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’, saying she wanted it banned.

“This is a song about women trying to express themselves, to say ‘this is what’s happening, this is what I’m doing, can you listen to me?’ And a man telling her no and talking over them,” she said.

But Piers didn’t agree and cut in: “Absolute rubbish, that’s not the point of the song, that’s not the point of the movie, it’s not the mood of the movie.”

When Daisy argued that the meaning of the lyrics had changed, he cut in again saying: “The meaning hasn’t changed. The meaning has changed because you want it to change, you want to put a sinister undertone to it. You want to expunge this song from history.”

She continued with her argument, saying nowhere played songs by Gary Glitter anymore, adding: “I’m not saying a lifelong ban of ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’, I want to wait to hear the song until the world has changed. Until woman live in a safe world.

“I’d like a real drop in sexual assault statistics, I’d like consent taught in schools. The more you do to eradicate sexism, the sooner we can listen to that song.”

But a vexed Piers added: “This isn’t sexism, this is flirtation. Harmless flirtation. Radical feminists like you want to suck the joy out of everything and make this look like other things.”

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays from 6am on ITV.
