Piers Morgan was expertly trolled by his BBC Breakfast rival, after he boasted that Good Morning Britain was ‘the hottest show on TV’.

Post the National Television Awards, Morgan uploaded a picture of himself on the red carpet sandwiched between co-hosts Susanna Reid, Charlotte Hawkins, Kate Garraway, Ranvir Singh and Laura Tobin.

“Proof that we have the hottest show on TV,” Morgan captioned.

But Walker, who often tussles with Morgan on social media, pointed out a bit of artistic licence taken with the shot.

“What happened to the rest of the ‘team’? #Crop,” replied Walker, posting the full shot, which also features male presenters Sean Fletcher and Alex Beresford.

Morgan joked back: “They didn’t meet the required aesthetic level for crop selection.”

The former newspaper editor said that he was ‘livid’ after losing out on the Best Presenter award on the night, which went to Ant and Dec for the 18th year in a row, despite Dec having taken most of the last year off following his drink driving conviction.

“It was Ant McPartlin’s speech that really cemented it for me. You mean, seriously, he hasn’t been on TV for a year. The only time he gets out of bed in the morning is to walk the dog!” he said.

“I’m still annoyed, I can’t lie. I’m still annoyed. You saw people win who barely worked last year!

“The NTAs have become a bit of a joke. Holly and Phil have won for nine years. It must be as boring for the viewers.

“It’s the same old people, they’ve all got the same management company. Ant and Dec, Holly and Phil, same management company.”
