The independent brewery, which owns 200 pubs across the UK, has issued guidelines on the ‘zero tolerance’ policy and it is already in effect. Though just what you need to say to earn a ban is unclear,

One Samuel Smith’s pub manager on Teesside, told the Evening Gazette: “It’s the owner of the brewery’s decision, it’s all started from the brewery – all we can do is try our best.”

When asked if any customers fallen foul of the rules yet, he said: “We’ve been told to refuse service to people using bad language, so basically, yes.”

Samuel Smiths, whose pubs have no music or TV, pride themselves on their “uncompromisingly Victorian” aesthetic – and now they have an attitude to match.
