A Place In The Sun viewers were split over the buyers' audacious request when the show returned to Channel 4 on Monday (April 29). Presenter Jasmine Harman was tasked with finding another dream home for house hunters Heidi Dockerill and Keith Ashcroft from Nottinghamshire.

The couple, who had a budget of £170,000 but could stretch to an additional £40,000, were looking for their ideal property in Southern Alicante. They needed plenty of space to accommodate their large family, which includes four children, six grandchildren, and their dogs Purdey and Caesar.

Despite being critical of the properties they were shown, they seemed to have narrowed down their choices to two, arranging a second viewing for both. However, the property that caught their eye was known as the 'upside-down house', listed at £222,500.

Despite having some flexibility in their budget, they decided to make what Heidi described as a "very cheeky offer of £195,000. The offer was declined and Jasmine informed them that the lowest the vendor would go was £206,000 - a huge drop of £16,500 on their asking price.

Despite this very significant decrease, Keith insisted that they go back at £200,000. This offer was also rejected.

Eventually, Keith conceded that they would go to £203,000 and that was their final offer. The vendor was having none of it and when Jasmine spoke to them again the agent told them the vendor wasn't budging and had said no more phone calls. The couple refused to budge on their offer and told Jasmine to leave the offer on the table," reports the Express.

"I think whatever is meant to be will be everything happens for a reason and I really hope it works out for you, or if it doesn't, that you'll find another perfect property for you. So good luck with it," Jasmine said to the couple, seemingly concluding the saga.

However, an hour after filming wrapped up, the agent called back to Jasmine's surprise. She hurriedly sought out Heidi and Keith to share the exciting news: "The vendors are willing to accept your offer of £203,000."

"I feel this has been such a roller coaster, but I'm a great believer that what's meant to be will be and I could not be happier...about how it all turned out," Jasmine expressed as she closed the show.

Viewers had mixed reactions to the outcome, having felt throughout the episode that the couple wouldn't end up purchasing a property. They took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their opinions.

@JaneMon90605097 expressed frustration at their bidding strategy, tweeting: "Is it wrong that now I hope they don't get it? #aplaceinthesun." She later added: "Damn they got it. #aplaceinthesun."
