A Place In The Sun host floored as unhappy couple 'walk out' of property

Presenter Ben Hillman was left gobsmacked on the latest instalment of A Place In The Sun when a couple refused to finish viewing a property.

In Wednesday's episode (July 3), Ben was at the helm, ready to assist Emma and Shane, a pair from the UK eager to find their dream modern family abode in Madeira, with plans to relocate swiftly.

However, the episode took an unexpected turn when the couple expressed their strong distaste for one of the properties. At first glance, the house, boasting a private outdoor swimming pool, seemed to tick all the boxes for Shane and Emma.

But as soon as they entered, Emma didn't hold back her feelings about the interior design. With conviction, she declared: "I don't like it. It's beautiful but I couldn't live here."

The home featured natural stone tiling and a spacious living area on the ground floor. Yet, after a brief look around the downstairs, Emma had made up her mind and promptly exited the property with Shane in tow, reports the Express.

Ben's astonishment was evident. Addressing the audience, he exclaimed: "I literally can't believe what just happened."

Viewers tuning in were equally baffled by Emma's blunt admission. Flocking to X, previously known as Twitter, one perplexed fan commented: "It looks beautiful, but I couldn't live with it," accompanied by a gif emblazoned with the word "huh".

Despite their doubts on one of Ben's listings, Emma and Shane went ahead and made a bid for a house more suited to their style. They proposed a price of £195,000 for the property they were eyeing, hoping that the proprietor would do business with them.

As much as Ben tried to make a convincing phone call, it was unfortunately not in the cards for Emma and Shane as their offer was rejected. Sharing their views on the couple's mishap on social media, one viewer expressed: "What a mediocre ending to a mediocre episode. Until next time, Folks."

Adding to the sentiment, another viewer stated, "That was uninspiring. Even by Madeira and Ben's standards."
