A Place in the Sun viewers were quick to criticise the Channel 4 programme shortly after the latest episode began. Property guru Lucy Alexander led the show, taking off to the coastal town of Torrevieja, Spain, to assist Edith and William in their quest for a dream holiday abode.

The pair had set aside £130,000 to secure a property with at least two bedrooms and two bathrooms. A pool was on their wishlist, communal if necessary, but proximity to amenities was non-negotiable.

Their granddaughter Shea, who has special needs, was also a key consideration. William shared: "She can walk, but not a great distance. She's got the use of a wheelchair."

Lucy empathised with the couple's situation, sharing her own personal insights: "So you've got to think about steps and access. I've got a daughter in a wheelchair so I know exactly what you mean. We can kind of like work that as we go along."

Edith expressed her appreciation for Lucy's empathy, remarking that it would be "great", reports the Express.

However, as the first of five properties was showcased, a snag was noticed by viewers who promptly aired their grievances on social media. The property in question was a two-bedroom terraced house featuring a private balcony and a patio garden complete with a barbecue area.

The property featured a living and dining area connected through an archway to the kitchen, with a downstairs toilet, all for £129,565. However, the catch was that all bedrooms were situated upstairs, posing a potential issue for those with accessibility needs.

Viewers on X (formerly known as Twitter) quickly spotted the oversight shortly after the show began. One viewer commented: "Coming up, 5 properties all with stairs #aplaceinthesun."

Another chimed in: "A daughter who has mobility issues - so of course the first property has stairs and no bedrooms on the ground floor #aplaceinthesun."

A third expressed frustration: "Do you ever get the feeling on some episodes they've got the properties lined-up before hearing the house-hunter's criteria? No steps? Accessible? Yep, yep #aplaceinthesun."

Another disappointed fan wrote: "More stairs [disappointed emoji] #aplaceinthesun" Meanwhile, another added: "Somewhere on ground level as our granddaughter is in a wheelchair.... Here's a house with steps to the front door! #aplaceinthesun."

On a brighter note, some viewers were pleased with a couple who seemed to know exactly what they wanted. A tweet read: "Oooo a lovely scottish couple. Its good to have a wee bit of class for a change #aplaceinthesun."

And another viewer appreciated the couple's attitude: "He's so appreciative of everything. They better get something nice. #aplaceinthesun."
