Plane Catches Fire in Oroville After 'Aborted Takeoff'

A plane caught fire after running off the end of the runway at Oroville Municipal Airport in California on Wednesday, August 21, according to local media citing officials.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) and firefighters in Oroville responded to the scene, saying they were dealing with a “downed aircraft.” Highway 162, adjacent to the airport, was temporarily closed. The Oroville Mercury-Record reported that 10 people – eight passengers and two pilots – were on the plane. No one was injured, CHP Oroville said.
