Planning permission granted for a 7.5 acre greenhouse to grow medicinal cannabis in Wiltshire

Plans to build a giant greenhouse to grow medicinal cannabis in Wiltshire has been given the go-ahead.

The 7.5 acre glass house will be built on a development site by Sativa Investments, who have raised £3.75m in investments for the £10.5m project.

The site will be used to grow cannabis plants for the production of medicinal cannabis and cannabidiol (CBD) products.

It is now legal for specialists doctors to prescribe cannabis-based medication in the UK.

The move is part of Sativa’s plans to become the UK’s first seed to consumer medicinal cannabis business.

Jeremy Thomas, chief executive of Sativa Investments, said that the scheme would not easy be taken on by farmers.

He told the BBC: ‘I don’t think it is realistic…

Among those first to be prescribed CBD drugs are people suffering from chronic pain, epilepsy, or nausea as a result of chemotherapy or multiple sclerosis.
