Plans to build a block of flats with a ‘green roof’ in High Wycombe have been scrapped after objections.

This is just one of the many applications considered by Buckinghamshire Council during the past seven days.

New flats bid scrapped, 81-83 Hughenden Road High Wycombe (24/05974/FUL)

Plans to build eight apartments spread across three storeys have been withdrawn by the applicant, meaning that the council will not make a formal decision on them.

The proposals, which were put forward by applicant 55 Hamid Ltd, included a ‘green roof’ on top of the new building, which would replace the existing semi-detached properties once they were demolished.

Blueprints for the new flats proposed three one-bedroom units on the ground floor, a further three on the first floor, as well as a one-bedroom apartment and two-bedroom apartment on the second floor.

The plans, which included eight car parking spaces and a cycle store to the rear of the site, drew objections from local people before they were withdrawn.

Mr June Affleck said: “This proposed development is totally out of character with the surrounding properties which are a long-standing feature of High Wycombe’s heritage.”

However, another neighbour, Mr Imran Ghani, was a fan of the proposed flats and said: “I think it’s a good plan and a good idea.”

Plan for new padel courts withdrawn, The Memorial Centre, 8 East Common, Gerrards Cross (PL/24/1548/FA)

The application for planning permission for the installation of two new padel tennis courts has been withdrawn.

Plans stated that the new courts would have replaced the existing old tennis courts, while a small office would have been built nearby.

A planning statement said: “The current tennis courts are in a state of disrepair, requiring extensive resurfacing.

“Due to their poor condition, the courts are currently unusable. The cost of the necessary repairs is beyond the financial capabilities of the Gerrards Cross Community Association.”

Changes to new college building, KMS House, Brook Street, High Wycombe (24/06350/MINAMD)

Non-material changes to a new building for the Buckinghamshire College Group have been approved by the council.

The group already had permission for the demolition of existing buildings at Brook Street and the construction of a two-storey further education building for vocational teaching and learning.

But the council has now also approved amendments including front façade adaptions, ‘boundary access treatment’, a new roof layout, increased height and position of roof vents and signage for the building.
