Music-lovers are in for a treat as plans are well underway to bring a music festival to a Teesside town.

Now That’s What I Call Thornaby will bring a range of acts to the stage, including Pink tribute and Taylor Swift tribute acts, this summer.

Event organisers, Chris Barton and Jamie Harding - a singer and musician known for his Jamie T Reggae & Ska show - are planning the musical feast to take place at Thornaby Sports and Leisure Club on August 10 this year. The pair said the outdoor event is for the people of the town, giving them something affordable.

Chris is a DJ and through his company, CB Sounds, is used to hosting smaller local events for all tastes. He said: "We are holding the festival for people in and around Thornaby, with Thornaby having no outdoor event this year.

"We are doing it differently to other festivals that take place as we are having entertainment for all ages. We are having an outdoor stage with local talent from the age of nine taking to the stage to have a chance at the experience of doing a big event, as well as a Pink tribute and a Taylor Swift tribute, the outdoor stage will have acts and entertainment on from noon until 9pm."

During the event there will be a big indoor room with a stage for children's entertainment which is singers, games, disco and a magician act as well as face painting and other activities. Meanwhile, on the evening there will be a VIP after party to keep the entertainment going and during the day there will be big funfair with rides for all ages.

Chris said: "We realise in the current climate that the cost of living is high and in total truth people in general are struggling so we came up with this not too long ago and thought why not put something on that's affordable for all. We have put all tickets at only £10 per person and the club is also keeping all drinks prices as normal so it's not like most festivals where people come in and charge double the prices.

"Also a mixture of local companies will be there promoting and selling their stuff as we also made the pitch fees really low to help people that way as well. It truly is going to be a day for the family and one that will grow each year and we aim in time to bring in big names to the area and be just that bit different to all other festivals and listen to what people want from a festival."
