A proposal has been made to convert a former bank in Cleethorpes.

NatWest closed its Sea View Street bank in March last year. Customer numbers using it had fallen to only ten regular customers in the previous four years.

The building was put on the market shortly after the bank's closure. The marketed price was £275,000. A company has now proposed its conversion into a two bedroom apartment and a retail unit.

The building is almost exactly a hundred years old, built in 1925. Proposed alterations would restore pre-bank and older elements.

A former bay window would be reintroduced and become the entrance to the two bed apartment, which will occupy the first and second floors. The flat entrance will also gain a small courtyard, reinstating pre-1925 features.

The nature of the retail unit, other than not selling hot food, is not specified. However, the application estimates the site will be the base for two full-time and two part-time jobs. The retail unit would be 270 sq m in size in total, with 145 sq m tradeable floor area.

Chester Investments Group Ltd is the applicant. The Grimsby-based company specialises in the development of building projects, according to Companies House.
