'Please come home dad' Family's emotional plea after man vanishes from Scots island

A desperate family have issued an emotional plea after a dad vanished from a Scots island.

William McKinstry has been reported missing from the Isle of Arran. The 40-year-old was seen boarding a ferry to Troon on Tuesday, April 23.

The last known sighting of him was on Prestwick Road in Ayr at around 8.10am on Wednesday. William's worried family are now appealing for help in tracing him.

He is described as 5ft 9” with short black hair and was wearing a dark blue top with ‘LBR Roofing’ written in white writing.

In a post on Facebook, his daughter said: "Please come home dad everyone worried."

A cousin added: "Come on cuz please let someone know your okay."

Officers from Police Scotland shared a CCTV image of William boarding the ferry on Tuesday and they are now appealing for information.

Sergeant Martin Lawrie said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for William’s wellbeing and are appealing to anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to please get in touch.

“Our enquiries so far suggest he could be in the Ayr area however he could also have travelled elsewhere following his last known sighting.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4020 of Tuesday, April 23, 2024.”
