Plymouth Argyle team news for crucial Championship match at Millwall

Experienced midfielder Adam Forshaw is fit for Plymouth Argyle's vital Championship clash against Millwall at The Den on Saturday.

The 32-year-old was substituted in the early stages of the Pilgrims' 3-0 defeat away to Stoke City last weekend after he tweaked his hamstring. However, subsequent scans were all clear and Forshaw took part in training today (Thursday).

That means the only injured players who will miss the Millwall match are long-term absentee Saxon Earley (ankle) and Mickel Miller, who suffered a season-ending knee ligament injury in the 1-0 home win against Leicester City on April 12.

Asked about Forshaw, Argyle first team coach Kevin Nancekivell said at a Presser this lunchtime: "He seems to be okay. The scan was okay, he has trained this morning so he should be available for selection."

Forshaw was replaced by Jordan Houghton in only the ninth minute of the match at Stoke. "Adam knows his body and came off as a precaution rather than anything else. Apart from Saxon and Mickel everyone is good to go."

One key player for Argyle is Ryan Hardie, who was in good form goalscoring earlier this season but has not netted in the last 10 games, leaving him stuck on a tally of 13.

The match against Millwall, who have secured their Championship safety with three consecutive victories - including a 1-0 win at Sunderland last Saturday, would be a great time for Hardie to end that barren run.

Nancekivell said: "I think you find that with strikers, they can be very streaky. They go on runs and score goals. Ryan has been outstanding for us this season, his goals have been imperative in what we have tried to do.

"He will score again for sure. It's just not falling for him a the minute or he's not getting enough chances, whatever reason you want to look into but, but I have got no doubts Ryan Hardie is going to be firing on all cylinders. He's a top, top striker who is a top-top Championship goalscorer."

Another attacking option is 17-year-old Freddie Issaka, who scored one of the goals for Argyle under-18s in their 3-1 defeat of Oxford United at Home Park on Tuesday afternoon, which left them top of Merit League One.

The Wales under-19 international was an unused substitute for the last two Championship games against Leicester and Stoke.
