'Point to prove' Tex Hoy challenge set as former Hull FC full-back signs for new club

Danny Wilson believes Tex Hoy has a 'point to prove' in the Super League competition. Castleford Tigers have now confirmed the signing of the former Hull FC full-back, as reported by Hull Live on Friday.

Hoy joins the Tigers on a deal to the end of the season. He played 24 games for the Black and Whites after signing for the club from NRL-based Newcastle Knights, where he played on 29 occasions.

Hoy was released by Hull earlier this month after the player was told he was surplus to requirements. He left the club last week after his severance payment was finalised, with Wilson happy to bring in some 'competition' to the full-back position.

“We are always looking at improving the squad and we feel Tex coming in does just that," Wilson said on the signing. "He has some real quality and has a point to prove in the Super League. Bringing in Tex gives some healthy competition at full-back.”

Castleford also released former Hull KR prop Albert Vete this week, allowing the space for Hoy to join He will meet his former club next month as Hull head to Wheldon Road on May 24. The two sides also meet at the MKM Stadium on August 31.

Hull currently sit in 11th spot in the Super League table, with Castleford just above in tenth place. Both sides have played eight rounds so far.
