Pokemon Go-Playing Driver Runs Over And Kills Elderly Woman

A Pokemon Go player ploughed into two elderly women in a small truck as he was playing the game - killing one woman at the scene.

Keiji Gooh, 39, admitted he had been playing the hit game at the wheel when his car hit the two women in Tokushima City in southern Japan.

The other woman, aged 60, was seriously injured, Kyodo News reported.

The game was released four weeks ago in Japan, and has become a huge hit, with police issuing warnings about the risks of playing at the wheel.

The National Police Agency announced that Pokemon Go has been a contributing factor in 79 traffic accidents in the month since it was released in the country.

In the West, the game has been linked to muggings, stabbings, and incidents such as two men falling off a 75ft cliff near San Diego while ‘hunting’ Pokemon.

The two men escaped without serious injury after stumbling over the edge of a bluff while trying to catch Pokemon, local station Fox 5 said.

Student Michael Baker, 21, was stabbed while in pursuit of non-existent monsters in a local park in Tucson - but put off going to hospital to catch more Pokemon.
