Police arrest suspected drug dealer after stopping vehicle near ferry terminal

Police made an arrest after stopping a vehicle heading off the Isle of Wight via a ferry yesterday morning (Wednesday).

At around 7.50am, officers stopped a vehicle at the exit of the ferry terminal on Gunwharf Road.

A search of the vehicle was carried out and a quantity of suspected Class A drugs were discovered, police have revealed.

A 35-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

He has been released on bail while police enquiries are ongoing.
