Police attend reports of burglary at huge Bucks mansion

A burglary has happened at a large manor house which was previously built for the Rothschild family.

Thames Valley Police received reports of a break in at Mentmore Towers in north Buckinghamshire.

Mentmore is a 19th-century English country house built between 1852 and 1854 designed for the banker and collector of fine art Baron Mayer de Rothschild as a country home, and as a display case for his collection of fine art.

The mansion has been described as one of the greatest houses of the Victorian era.

The home was broken into by two people in the early hours of Friday, May 3.

Police said: "Unfortunately this is becoming a regular occurrence for the large manor house.

"However officers have been cracking down on these cases by responding swiftly and apprehending those involved."

As such, police issued tips to residents on how to keep their home safe from burglars.

Some of these tips include keeping windows and doors locked with burglary-proof locks.
