Police were called to a crash on a Southampton busy junction this afternoon.

Officers were called to the collision on The Avenue at the junction with Lodge Road and Banister Road shortly after 2pm today.

The crash blocked part of the junction and involved a Ford Fiesta and a Toyota - but only caused minor injuries, police said.

A police statement said: “We were called to a report of a two-vehicle collision on The Avenue, at the junction with Lodge Road and Banister Road, shortly after 2pm today (Sunday 5 May).

“The vehicles involved were a Fiesta and Toyota. Minor injuries were reported.”

Southampton City Council's transport team warned of delays at the time and asked drivers to find a different route.
