Police Carry Out Controlled Explosion in Sefton Park After Liverpool Hospital Blast

Police carried out a “controlled explosion” in Sefton Park on Monday, November 15, as investigations into Sunday’s deadly blast at Liverpool Women’s Hospital continued.

Video filmed by Julie Johnston shows a bird’s-eye view of the scene taken from her apartment facing Sefton Park, she said.

Police confirmed the controlled explosion was carried out as a precaution, according to local reports.

Counter-terror police said “significant items” were found in a property linked to the suspect they believe built a device that killed one person and injured another outside the hospital on Sunday, the Liverpool Echo reported.

Police confirmed four people were arrested in connection with the explosion, which is being investigated as a terrorist incident.

The man who died in the explosion has been named by police as 32-year-old Emad Al Swealmeen, according to reports. Credit: Julie Johnston via Storyful
