Police charge man, 31, over trying car door handles

Hertfordshire Police have charged a Watford man over interfering with parked cars in the early morning.

Officers were called to reports a man was seen trying car door handles in Tucker Street at around 4.15am on Friday, June 21.

Yesterday, officers arrested Miqdad Hassanali, of Kensington Avenue, in connection with the investigation.

The 31-year-old was charged with two counts of vehicle interference and was remanded into custody before he appeared at Hatfield Magistrates' Court yesterday, June 27.

Hassanali has now been released on conditional bail and will next appear at St Albans Magistrates' Court on Monday, July 1.

It comes after Watford man Haben Ghebreamlak was jailed at Hatfield Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, June 25, over stealing iPods and a smartwatch from cars in Longspring and St Albans Road on June 24

The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to four counts of vehicle interference and two counts of theft from a vehicle.

Ghebreamlak was jailed for 30 weeks and ordered to pay a total of £350 in compensation to both victims after the offences activated a previous six-week suspended sentence he was handed in May for previous theft charges.
