Police Crash Head-On With 'Dangerous Driver' After Machete Spotted in Car

A police car crashed head-on into a “dangerous driver” during a pursuit on May 22, after bladed weapons were spotted in the stolen vehicle, Essex Police said.

Officers were called to reports of people “brandishing knives” inside a vehicle, police said.

Bodycam footage shows an officer making a number of quick maneuvers through traffic during the car chase.

Police said the suspect’s car was “driven onto the wrong side of the road, over the pavement near the entrance to a school, and reached dangerously high speeds of up to 90 mph.”

Police said a machete and a knife were found inside the vehicle after the collision, and a 17-year-old was arrested at the scene. He was sentenced to a youth detention and training order spanning six months, and disqualified from driving for 15 months. Credit: Essex Police via Storyful
