Police, fire crews and paramedics flood Burslem town centre

Police have cordoned off part of a town centre tonight. They have sealed off St John's Square, in Burslem, after fire ripped through the third floor of the former J's Bar.

Town centre drinkers raised the alarm after hearing the screams of a trapped man perched on a ledge on the third-floor of the fire-hit property. The landlord of the Bull's Head produced a ladder and the man came down to safety.

One StokeonTrentLive reader said: "It looks like one of the firefighters has been taken to an ambulance. Police have also removed a bike from the property."

Staffordshire Police, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service are at the scene of tonight's unfolding incident. Any witnesses can call the police on 101.
