Police flock to popular Beckenham park after group of males ‘seen with knives’

A group of males have reportedly been seen with knives at a popular park in Beckenham.

The incident happened at Croydon Road Recreation Ground at around 6.30pm on May 3.

Officers attended and one male was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

He has since been released under police investigation.

No injuries were reported following the incident.

Police enquires into the circumstances are ongoing.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at approximately 18:30hrs on Friday, 3 May by members of the public reporting a group of males in possession of knives in Croydon Recreation Ground in Beckenham.

“Officers attended and one male was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

"He has since been released under investigation.

“No reports of any injuries at this time.

“Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
