Police have released a picture of a suspected peeping Tom who is believed to have hidden a spy camera in an air vent above a Starbucks customer toilet.

The matchbox-sized recording device was discovered concealed behind a grille above the bathroom in the coffee shop in Vauxhall, directly opposite the MI6 headquarters.

Footage recorded by the camera, which police believe was installed for up to a month before it was spotted by a disturbed customer in November last year, include videos of members of the public using the toilet.

The Met Police today said they had uncovered a picture of a man on the device who officers believe placed the camera on the ceiling for voyeurism.

"At this stage there is no reason to believe these videos could have been viewed by anybody other than the police, as the device was seized at that location," the Met said.

The camera was first noticed by a Vauxhall local on November 22 last year, who looked up to the ceiling while using the toilet.

At the time, Starbucks called it a "distressing discovery for our employees and customers".

Police are currently in the process of identifying the man in the picture, who they want for questioning.

In a statement the Met said: "Police believe that the camera had been installed for a maximum of three to four weeks and believed that it was installed for the purpose of voyeurism.

"The contents of the device have been examined by police, and feature a number of video files of members of the public using the toilet.

"This has also uncovered images of a male suspect, who police believe placed the camera at the location. "

Anyone who might recognise the unknown man or who has further information is asked to come forward. At present, no arrests have been made.
