POLICE have seized an electric scooter.

Davenham and Moulton Safer Neighbourhood Team have taken an illegal vehicle off the roads.

PCSO Lee Robertson and PCSO Philip Hambleton were on patrol in Leftwich on Wednesday (June 12) when they spotted two males riding an e-scooter on London Road.

The officers stopped the men and seized the scooter from them.

“Once again e-scooters are only to be used on private land,” said a spokesperson for the force.

“Both males were advised that riding the scooter on a public road was illegal.

“This scooter was seized and going forward any other scooters that are witnessed within the area being rode on public roads may possibly be seized.”

Highlighting this incident on social media, Cheshire Police shared a warning that is displayed when purchasing such a vehicle online.

It reads: “Important note: There may be local legal restrictions relating to the use of this product on roads, footways, cycle lanes, or in other public areas, such as license, plate, safety helmet, and driving restrictions.

“For example, e-scooters are prohibited from use in any public road or space in the UK. Please check before you buy and use this product.”
