Police name man accused of kidnap, criminal damage and being involved in organised crime group

Detectives investigating the alleged kidnapping of a person in Grays have named a man accused of being involved. Essex Police said they were called to reports of an incident in south Essex on March 21 where a man reported that he had been taken against his will.

Jermaine Yamoah, 34, of Inglis Way, Millbrook Park in London has been charged with a number of offences. He stands accused of kidnap, being involved in an organised crime group and criminal damage.

He appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (June 26) and was remanded into custody. He will next appear at Basildon Crown Court on July 24.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "A man has appeared in court to face a number of charges as part of an investigation by officers from our Serious and Organised Crime Unit. On Thursday 21 March this year officers were called to reports of an incident in Grays where a man reported that he had been taken against his will.

"Jermaine Yamoah, 34, of Inglis Way, Millbrook Park, London, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates Court yesterday, Wednesday 26 June. He is charged with kidnap, participating in the criminal activities of an organised crime group and criminal damage. He was remanded into custody and will appear at Basildon Crown Court on Wednesday 24 July."
