A joint investigation is currently underway between Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and Merseyside Police to establish the cause of the fire, which is suspected to be arson.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact them and assist their ongoing investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector, Peter Stephenson said: “To deliberately start a fire is incredibly dangerous and this incident could have been a lot worse. This has understandably caused concern for the people who live in the area, but please be assured we are taking this extremely seriously and are determined to find the person responsible.

“If you live in the area and saw anything suspicious last night, please let us know. Similarly, if you have CCTV cameras, please check them to see if you captured anything that could help our ongoing investigation.”
