Police Release Footage of Abandoned Newborn Baby Found in Georgia Woods

Police released footage on June 25 in an appeal for information after a newborn baby was found abandoned in a plastic bag in a wooded area of Forsyth County, Georgia, on June 6.

Footage released by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office shows officers tearing the plastic bag the baby was found in. The baby, whose umbilical cord was still attached, is seen crying as the officers tend to her.

The newborn, who was temporarily named ‘India’ by hospital workers, was found when a family living nearby heard crying, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

“We are happy to report that Baby India is thriving and is in the care of the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services,” the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said.

Officials said they were continuing to “aggressively investigate” the case and appealed to anyone with information to come forward. Credit: Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
