Police release image of man after Facebook Marketplace scam

Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to after a Facebook user was left out of pocket in an alleged scam.

The incident happened at 1.30pm on Friday, May 17, on Risedale Drive, York. Police said the victim bought a mobile phone from Facebook Marketplace believing they were buying a Samsung phone before later discovering that the phone was an older model than advertised.

The force has now launched an appeal and believe the man pictured may be able to help with their investigation. A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Please contact us if you recognise the man pictured on CCTV, as he may have information that will assist our investigation."
