Police Remove Pink Boat From Extinction Rebellion Protest Site in London

Authorities in London removed a pink sailboat on April 19 that had been parked at Oxford Circus during a climate change protest organized by the Extinction Rebellion group.

Protesters attached themselves to the boat in an effort to stop officials from removing it, according to reports.

The actor Emma Thompson joined Friday’s protest and read a “love letter” to the Earth from aboard the pink boat, saying: “Gaia is us and we are Gaia.”

Extinction Rebellion was staging what it was described as an “international week of rebellion”. Protests were staged over several days in Europe, North America and Australia. On Tuesday, protesters blockaded Waterloo Bridge. Credit: @yardvinegar via Storyful
