Police seal off South Earlswood road after man's body found in stream

A man's body was found in a stream next to a road in Surrey, police said. Woodhatch Road in South Earlswood was closed for several hours following the discovery on Sunday.

Surrey Police said officers were called out at 2.20pm on Sunday. Emergency services attended the scene and recovered the body.

The man's death is not being treated as suspicious. Drivers were asked to avoid the area throughout the afternoon and into the evening, with the road reopening at around 10.15pm.

Police said: "Enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances of his death, which is being treated as unexplained and is not currently believed to be suspicious."

Woodhatch Road was shut between the junctions with Maple Road and Tiler’s Way. Police thanked drivers for their patience after the eight-hour closure.
