Police Seize $650 Million Worth of Illegally Imported Drugs at Port Botany

Police discovered 1.4 tonnes of ephedrine valued at $650 million in a shipping container at Port Botany on June 24, in a joint-operation with the Australian Border Force, NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said on Wednesday, June 28.

Police also seized more than $1 million in cash and five hand guns.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the investigation was launched 12 months prior after an extortion attempt by the Rebels bikies.

The drugs syndicate involved individuals from the OMCG, Rebels and Comacheros gangs. Among those arrested were some who had been “high up the chain” of those organisations, police said. Credit: Australian Border Force via Storyful
