POOLE Pirates reserve Vinnie Foord has suffered a wrist fracture after a crash at Wimborne Road in the National League Riders’ Championship.

Foord had been in the hunt for the crown at the youth event eventually won by teammate Sam Hagon, but the youngster came off his bike and suffered a nasty collision with the air fence in heat 18.

Promoter Danny Ford shared: "Everyone who was at the meeting on Wednesday will have seen Vinnie's dreadful crash and I think we were all very relieved to see him walk away from it.

“He was reporting pain in his hand at the time but that rapidly became much worse and he took the precaution to report to A&E on his way home, where it was diagnosed that the extent of his injury was worse than first thought.

“He is booked in for a further appointment on July 3 to determine whether or not he will require surgery or not.

“Obviously, this has ruled him out most definitely for our next meeting against Edinburgh on Wednesday and we will then see how things develop.”
