This is the most popular Airbnb in the world (and it’s easy to see why)

You can rent some pretty splendid properties on Airbnb, right up to your own private island – but the most popular one is actually a little more modest.

In fact, it’s a treehouse.

The treehouse in Atlanta, Georgia, has more than 300,000 site visits per month – and has been added to more than 147,052 Airbnb ‘wish lists’, making it the most popular on the site.

The Today show took a look at the property, which consists of three separate rooms connected by rope bridges, and filled with antique furniture.

The £288-a-night treehouse is booked up until July next year – and has hosted lots of weddings, as well as wrap parties for films such as The Hunger Games.

Owner Peter Bahouth – who built the treehouse 18 years go, said, ‘I’ve tried to understand why it’s been so popular.

‘I think it’s a simple response to a complicated world for a lot of people.’
