A much-loved beverage brand has changed the recipe of one of their most popular drinks which they say has a “new irresistible taste” - but it seems like fans couldn’t agree less. Fanta has changed the flavour of its ‘zero sugar’ orange option which lovers of the drink have demanded they “change back immediately.”

The new Fanta Orange Zero was rolled out in supermarkets across the UK in April and is said to boast an even better taste than its original diet Fanta flavour.

Fanta, which falls under The Coca-Cola Company, Fanta Zero - or ‘Fanta Z’ - launched in the early 2000s, replacing Fanta Light. Now the tangy drink has undergone yet another rebrand but fans of the fizzy drinks are less than delighted.

You can distinguish the new Fanta Orange Zero on shelves as it currently has the branding ‘new irresistible taste’ splashed on the front, as well as two asterisks following ‘zero sugar’ which brings you to the back of the package to let consumers know it contains naturally occurring sugars.

Those who have tried the drink have taken to social media to express their disgust at the new taste with one person calling it a “phenomenal downgrade.”

On X, @MatrixGlitch1 said: “So the "New irresistible taste" Fanta orange Zero has changed to in the UK tastes horrible. I'm going to have to change to a different drink.

“@foodgov @asa_uk is it even legal them to call it Zero, as in sugar free, with a **saying it does contain sugar now? It's not zero …”

@beccasuths wrote: “@CocaCola what on earth have you done??? The new Fanta Zero is diabolical and is not fit for human consumption. Change back immediately.”

@BigDaveC1664 said: “@CocaCola what have you done to the zero sugar Fanta in the UK. I used to love it, the new so called "improved" version tastes like chemicals!

“I am currently trying to buy all the bottles of the old version I can lay my hands on. Go back to the original zero sugar, you have messed up!”

@gingeki said: “No idea what @CocaCola_GB are up to but the new Fanta Zero is horrible. Phenomenal downgrade on the old one.”

Announcing the launch of the drink, Charlotte Walsham, Fanta Brand Manager said in a statement: “Our new and irresistible taste for Fanta Orange Zero has been created in response to the public’s changing tastes and habits, and is the result of extensive consumer testing.

“Fanta fans are sure to love the new taste of the popular drink, with research even revealing Fanta Orange Zero is the best tasting Orange Zero. We can’t wait for customers across Great Britain & Ireland to try it.”

The new Fanta Orange Zero is available in stores nationwide across Great Britain and Ireland.
