Popular sandwiches, baguettes and pasta salads recalled due to 'serious food safety risks'
Shoppers have been warned not to eat a range of popular sandwiches, baguettes and pasta pots due to health concerns.
Environmental Health and Trading Standards have been alerted to remove chilled and ready to eat products manufactured by Bread Spread Ltd - under the brand names of Bread Spread, Orbital Foods and Perfect Bite due to not being manufactured in accordance with food law requirements.
Listeria monocytogenes have been found in some of the products, while they are also subject to a number of hygiene and traceability contraventions which makes them unsafe to eat. All food businesses which have been supplied by Bread Spread are asked to 'withdraw from sale any chilled and ready to eat foods and recall from consumers any of these products sold at retail because they are unsafe to eat'.
All of the following products in all sizes and with a use-by date up to and including May 18, 2024 which were manufactured by Bread Spread Ltd are affected.

The FSA say: "The presence of Listeria monocytogenes, a number of hygiene and traceability contraventions which makes these products unsafe to eat. The presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the above products.
"Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.
"Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems."
Their advice to consumers, reads: "If you have purchased any products listed above, or any other products that are chilled or ready-to-eat from Bread Spread Ltd, do not eat them. Instead, dispose of the products safely, at home."
