Pose's Billy Porter has rubbished claims of an apparent feud between himself and RuPaul.

Attending yesterday's (September 22) Emmy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, camera coverage picked up Porter's reaction to RuPaul's triumph in the Outstanding Reality TV Series category (for RuPaul's Drag Race) as he sat in the audience.

His expression soon caused an uproar on Twitter.

But speaking to People afterwards, the star set the record straight about their relationship.

"Let me make this clear right now in this room to everybody. Right now. There was never a side-eye coming from me. There's never anything negative coming from me. You're never going to get from it.

"Okay. It's all love, all love, it's all positivity. Don't come to me with that."

Blaming the cameras for catching him at the wrong time, Porter – who won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role in Pose – elaborated: "They can catch me and it can look like a side-eye, [but] RuPaul is a friend of mine.

"I am so proud of him. I stand on his shoulders. I stand on his shoulders. He is doing it. He paved the way for me, so there's never a side-eye about that."

Pose airs on FX in the US and BBC Two in the UK.
