The secret? A weekly date night, according to the WAG.

The couple, who have known each other since they were 12, celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary in June. They certainly know a thing or two about romantic ups and downs, but the key to surviving it all is to make time for each other, according to Coleen.

Speaking to the Mirror, Coleen says that marriage is “something you have to work on” and that her and Wayne make sure to have a date night once a week.

“When we had Klay we said we needed to have more time together,” explains Coleen.

“So we’ll go to the cinema or for a meal – and two years on we’ve stuck to that. It’s nice to have time without the kids.”

But footballer Wayne isn’t always around for a weekly trip to Pizza Express. He’s just returned from a football tour that took him away from his family for three weeks. But Coleen confessed that a little time apart didn’t do them any harm - and, while she didn’t say this - we expect it gives her a bit of time to catch up on all those episodes of Come Dine With Me on the Sky Box.

What Coleen did say was: “Wayne has just been away for three weeks, which is a long time.

“But it gives you that excitement of seeing each other at the end of it.

“Sometimes I take the kids away at half term. Obviously we miss each other but it’s nice to have little breaks now and again.”

But now the footie season has started again, Wayne better get his date trousers ironed as he’ll have no excuse to miss his night out with his missus.

Wayne and Coleen have two kids, five-year-old Kai and two-year-old Klay and have a third one on the way. So do you want a boy or a girl Coleen?

“A girl would complete the family. It’d be nice,” she reveals.

But she added: “It doesn’t matter – children all give you the same joy and entertainment.”

Four-months pregnant Coleen said the hardest thing about this pregnancy was letting their oldest son Kai in on the secret.

“We didn’t tell him before we told everyone else because he wouldn’t have kept his mouth shut,” she told the Mirror as she launched McDonald’s Football Mum of the Year Awards.

She continued: “But telling him got us more excited. He kept saying, ‘Really, really, you’ve got a baby in your belly?’ He’ll come up and give me a hug and pat me.”

Sweet!
