Premier League transfers as Manchester United double deal on cards and Liverpool's Mo Salah replacement

The new Premier League season is not a million miles away as teams start moving towards pre-season preparations and friendlies. There will of course be lots of new faces in each camp as managers throughout the country target new signings, and look to move on players.

We take a look at all the latest news surrounding the key clubs with plenty of signings expected in the coming weeks, and lots of money still to be spent.

West Ham make £40m offer

According to the Telegraph, West Ham have made an improved £40m bid for Wolves captain Max Kilman.

Kilman is a top target for new West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui, who previously managed him at Wolves, and he is valued at £45m.

Matty Cash looks increasingly unlikely to join AC Milan this summer.

That is the word of Calcio Mercato, who explain that now the Premier League's PSR deadline for 2023/24 has passed and Villa have raised funds from other sales, they will seek to earn their full asking price of €35-40m (£29.6-33.8m) for the Poland international. This is reportedly out of the affordability range for the Italian club.

Villa boosted their PSR compliance as the €50m (£42.3m) sale of Douglas Luiz to Juventus went through as expected. This followed on from Tim Iroegbunam's switch to Everton a week earlier, which saw the club pocket £9m.

Cash will reportedly, therefore, have to move to another club, or he will remain a Villa player. Only two weeks ago was he named by the same Italian publication as Milan's preference, however this latest update states that their full attention will be forced to move onto Tottenham's Emerson Royal.

Brentford join race for Romania star

Brentford have also shown interest in Romania right-back Andrei Ratiu following his outstanding contribution at Euro 2024.

The blue-haired defender, who can play right back or right wing-back, excelled in Germany and is also on Brighton's radar.

Atalanta and other clubs from Serie A and the Bundesliga also like the player, who currently plays in La Liga with Rayo Vallecano.

Vallecano, however, are looking to tie him down to a new contract and are determined to fend off interest. No offers are yet to land on their table

United strike £34m deal

Man United have reportedly agreed to sign defender Miguel Gutierrez from Real Madrid.

According to reports in Spain via Express, the Red Devils have agreed to pay the Spanish giants £34m for the left-back. But they need to wait before a move is formalised.

Gutierrez is currently with Girona - and helped the club reach the Champions League last season. Real Madrid retain a £6.7million buy-back clause. They are apparently set to activate that before selling Gutierrez straight on to the Red Devils.

Philogene told to snub Prem interest

Hull winger Jaden Philogene is attracting interest from a number of clubs both in the Premier League and across Europe and Chris Waddle believes he should move abroad.

“I think his game probably suits the continent rather than England,” Waddle said to Lord Ping. “I think he’ll have more freedom to express himself playing in Europe where he can focus on the things he does well and not have to worry as much about the defensive side of the game.

“For his development as a player, a move to Europe would also benefit him. Barcelona have been linked to him, which says it all about the type of player he is and could become. He’s going to have some wonderful options and he deserves them. If I was him, I’d go to a club in Spain or Germany.

“Hull paid £5 million for him, which is a lot of money for a Championship club but is starting to look like a real bargain. I’m certain that Aston Villa will have a sell-on clause on him after letting him go for that price. A lot of clubs are looking at him.

“He had a great season with Hull scoring twelve goals and laying on six assists. He’s only twenty-two, so the potential is massive. When I first saw him, I thought he looked like a player that was destined to reach the top of the game.

“I found it strange that Hull managed to get him because his potential was clear. He’ll obviously be sold for a lot more money than Hull paid for him, so it’s been a shrewd investment from them and a great bit of business.”

Lacroix rejects new deal

Maxence Lacroix has reportedly turned down a contract offer from Wolfsburg amid links of a move to Liverpool.

The French centre-back, who's left-footed, has entered in the final 12 months of his deal and is attracting interest from across Europe and in the Premier League.

Reports from Italy state that Lacroix, 24, is niw exploring his options after rejecting the chance to sign a new deal with Wolfsburg. Crystal Palace, who are managed by ex-Wolfsburg boss Oliver Glasner, have also been tipped to sign him alongside Juventus and AC Milan.

Man Utd consider Lukaku return

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a return for former striker Romelu Lukaku should they fail to sign Joshua Zirkzee.

The Dutchman has been installed as the Red Devils’ preferred candidate for a striker signing. But a deal is difficult. The Red Devils face competition from Arsenal and AC Milan for Zirkzee.

And should they fail to sign him, they could turn to a familiar face. According to CalcioMercato, Lukaku has been earmarked for a return.

The Belgian is fresh off the back of a loan spell with Roma but is still contracted to Chelsea. Lukaku scored 42 goals in 96 appearances for the Red Devils during his first spell at Old Trafford.

Bologna chief makes Calafiori admission

Bologna technical director Giovanni Sartori has given Arsenal fresh hope in the race for Riccardo Calafiori. The centre-back, one of Italy's better performers at Euro 2024, has been eyed by both Arsenal and Juventus with a fee north of £40m mooted.

“There is talk of Juventus but also of many other teams,” Sartori told Sky Sports Italia. “At this moment we will try to keep him. If important offers were to arrive, we will have to think about it.

“I am not saying that we will sell him because the president has said that he wants to keep the whole team, but we will certainly make some evaluations. I do not think he will go to Juventus, he will probably go in a different transfer window, but I repeat that we would like to try to keep him.”

Premier League defender wouldn't 'discard' Liverpool move

Nottingham Forest defender Murillo has admitted he has his sights set on a move up the Premier League.

The Brazilian defender namedropped Liverpool in his ambitions but mentioned rivals City and Arsenal as teams he'd choose.

"I had the dream of playing in the Premier League and I had that thought," he revealed. "I thought: “I’ll go to Nottingham Forest, have a good year and then I’ll go to a big club”. I had that in my head.

"I’d choose Manchester City but it would be more difficult for me to be a regular starter given the players they have in their squad. There’s City, Arsenal as well, who are fighting for the Premier League title.

"I wouldn’t discard Liverpool either. It would be a good opportunity for me to show my football in a big club."

Liverpool 'hold talks' over double Dutch deals

Liverpool have reportedly held talks with the agents of Crysencio Summerville and Lutsharel Geertruida, who share the same agency.

HITC reports that the Reds' interest in the latter predates the arrival of his former Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot. The Netherlands international, who primarily plays at right-back, is claimed to be firmly on the club's radar.

Liverpool, though, are seemingly not alone in their interest. Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly in the most advanced position to secure both signings. It is also said that similar talks have happened with Arsenal, Newcastle United and West Ham United this summer. Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace are also credited with an interest in Summerville.

'Brilliant' Kvaratskhelia could replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been tipped to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.

The Georgian hit new heights following their record-breaking European Championships campaign and the Napoli attacker has been linked with a move away from the Serie A for a number of months.

The Reds have been mooted in those reports with PSG seemingly holding the firmest interest in his services. While new Napoli boss Antonio Conte will be looking to retain him as they look to challenge for European football again after a turgid title defence last season.

Didi Hamann believes Kvaratskhelia would be brilliant at Anfield. He told Gambling Zone : "I like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, I like him a lot. I read an interview and his dad said that they need to find a solution regarding his future this summer. Everything indicates that he will be leaving Napoli and that his time at the club is coming to an end.

"It's a great story because nobody heard of him two or three years ago. He turned up at Napoli and wins a Scudetto playing some absolutely brilliant football in a breath-taking season for the club.

"He’s been on an upward curve for the last few years. He was magnificent at this tournament. I loved seeing him on the same field with Ronaldo, who is his idol. He gave him a hug and they had a nice exchange after the game.

"I think I saw a photo of Ronaldo opening a football school in Georgia, and he’s in it as a young kid.

"He's a guy who makes people go to the ground. He’s a player that people will pay money to watch. When you walk to a ground on a Saturday, it’s players like him that people talk about; that people want to see. He gets bums off seats.

"He's a very humble guy. He'd be brilliant at Liverpool, and, if you’re talking about Salah replacements, then he’s probably as close to a perfect replacement that Liverpool could find."
