Primary school goes into lockdown after man 'made threats to cause damage'

A Welsh primary school went into lockdown on Wednesday after a man made threats. Police detained the individual close to Sealand CP School in Flintshire and the lockdown was subsequently lifted, reports NorthWalesLive.

In a statement North Wales Police said the news may have been "extremely distressing" for staff and parents. They also explained that the man had made threats to "cause damage to the school".

A spokesperson for the police force said on Thursday: "Sealand CP School yesterday went into lockdown. For any parents and staff I'm sure hearing this news would have been extremely distressing." For the latest Welsh news delivered to your inbox sign up to our newsletter.

They continued: "This was because a male had made threats to cause damage to the school and was seen nearby. He was promptly arrested and lockdown lifted. The school administrators make the decision on when to lockdown." Both the school and Flintshire County Council were approached for comment.
